In 2018, ProsperOps was founded to help organizations prosper in the cloud. Since then, our AWS Compute customers have realized over $1.6B in lifetime savings. In 2023, we expanded our AWS support to include RDS, Elasticache, Redshift, OpenSearch, and MemoryDB. Earlier this year we added support for Google Cloud Compute, and today ProsperOps is releasing Autonomous Discount Management (ADM) for Azure Compute in Early Access. Now, customers of all three hyperscale clouds can leverage our Autonomous Discount Management service to maximize Effective Savings Rate (ESR) and reduce Commitment Lock-In Risk (CLR) without engineering overhead.
The Microsoft Azure Landscape
Annual combined hyperscale cloud spend has surpassed $224B, and Microsoft Azure is the second largest cloud at $78B. Azure is also the fastest growing at 29% year-over-year. As cloud spend grows, so does the importance of optimization initiatives. It’s no wonder we’ve heard overwhelming demand for automated Azure rate optimization.
Cloud offers virtually limitless capacity, but every deployment decision is a purchasing decision. FinOps was born out of the necessity to understand and continuously optimize cloud expenditures in this operational model. Cost visibility tooling, while beneficial to providing context and alignment, does not take action to optimize costs. Without automation, the work of ongoing assessment and execution falls primarily on humans, and is never-ending.
As with AWS and Google Cloud, ADM for Azure Compute enables Azure FinOps teams to fully automate rate optimization – generating more savings, reducing risk, and enabling FinOps practitioners to focus their efforts on higher-order activities. This launch has significant implications for multi-cloud FinOps practitioners in particular. Now, all hyperscale cloud rate optimization can be executed by a single FinOps automation platform.
How it Works
ADM for Azure Compute enables FinOps teams to operate with confidence in the efficiency of their cloud spend. ProsperOps optimizes the rate you pay for Azure compute services by algorithmically building and maintaining a portfolio of Savings Plans and Reservation commitments that adapt to your dynamic usage patterns. Our initial launch includes support for the following Azure services:
- Virtual Machines
- Dedicated Hosts
- App Service
- Azure Kubernetes Service
- Virtual Desktop
- Functions
- Container Apps
- Container Instances
- Spring Apps
ADM for Azure Compute leverages the same battle-tested algorithms we use in AWS and Google Cloud, including our newest Adaptive Laddering™ strategy. Our algorithms and automation are governed by customer settings. Set your desired Savings Plan coverage, balance 1-year and 3-year Reservation allocation, and define flexibility vs. savings aggressiveness. Once enabled, ADM for Azure Compute monitors global compute usage changes and automatically adapts commitment in response.
Our platform implements the cloud investment strategy that best suits your organization. By creating a blended portfolio of Savings Plans for Compute and Reservations, ADM for Azure Compute maintains a diversified set of discount instruments that generate the maximum savings while mitigating your overall commitment lock-in risk. It operates with awareness of your custom pricing agreements and, like other ProsperOps products, does not require complex implementation, ongoing maintenance, or changes to your engineering workflows.
Early Access
ADM for Azure Compute Early Access is now available to new and existing ProsperOps customers. Our Early Access program allows you to optimize your Azure spend while helping us refine our service to better meet your needs.
New customers can sign up here, while existing customers can simply add Azure billing scopes via the ProsperOps Console. Follow our onboarding flow to configure Azure access to receive an analysis of your usage patterns and savings potential. A ProsperOps FinOps expert will be in touch to discuss the savings opportunity and your Early Access eligibility.
We’re headed to FinOps X Europe next week and Microsoft Ignite the week after. Stop by and talk to us about ADM for Azure Compute. We can’t wait to help you prosper in the (Microsoft) cloud!
Prosper On! 🖖
